To cover her father's medical bills, Chloe Reed made the calculated decision to seduce Rudolph Bennett, the CEO of the Shaw Corporation. At first, Rudolph saw her as nothing more than a plaything—an intriguing novelty, the ex-girlfriend of his estranged half-brother. It became a game of cat and mouse: she lured, he conquered. When the game ended, he walked away without a second glance, leaving her with nothing but a cold, impersonal check as he returned to his so-called "true love." Chloe didn’t make a scene. She simply vanished from his world without a word. But when news reached him that she was about to marry another man, something inside him snapped. He cornered her against a wall, his eyes burning with desperation as he crushed his lips to hers. "I was here first..." he growled, his voice raw with possessiveness. He offered her mansions, billions in assets—anything just to earn so much as a glance from her. Yet Chloe merely arched a brow, her tone cool and unimpressed. "Mr. Shaw, if you want a date, you'll have to take a number and wait your turn."
The night Chloe Reed broke up with Raife Hart, she got seriously drunk at a bar.
In a dim corner, she wrapped herself around a handsome stranger, kissing him like she’d lost all control.
The guy looked at her flushed cheeks and glittering eyes and said in a husky voice, “Wanna take this somewhere else?”
Slightly sobered by his words, Chloe finally got a good look at the man’s face.
Rudolph Bennett.
Just as she was about to pull back, she hesitated—then reached out again, arms looping tighter around his neck and pressing herself even closer to him.
Rudolph’s gaze lowered, pausing at her pale collarbones and the curve of her long neck. His eyes narrowed a bit.
This woman really knew how to tempt someone. Even he had to admit—both her figure and face were totally his type.
Catching his intent stare, Chloe curved her lips, a slow, alluring smirk spreading as she leaned closer to his ear—inch by inch.
Her warm breath brushed against his skin, and only when it fully settled did she stop.
With eyes curved like a crescent moon, and her voice drawn out playfully, she whispered, “You into me?”
As she spoke, her slender fingers wandered from his shoulder downward, teasing the buttons on his shirt. Her eyes held a heat that was hard to define.
Rudolph’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. His voice low and magnetic, he murmured near her ear, “Yeah, I am. And you?”
Instead of answering, Chloe pressed her lips to the corner of his mouth.
That bold move caught Rudolph off guard. His body tensed for a second, then he held her waist tighter and pulled her down onto the couch, deepening the kiss.
In the heat of the moment, she curled up lazily against his shoulder like a cat.
“Let’s go to a hotel.”
Rudolph’s hand slid lightly along her waist, his voice raspy, “I’ll call the driver.”
He didn’t mind a one-night thing with her—after all, he was enjoying it so far.
Soon the driver arrived and safely dropped them off at the hotel.
The second they got into the car, Rudolph was already kissing her again. By the time they got to the room, she was nearly breathless.
Their breaths tangled as Chloe clung to his neck. Her whole body was soft like jelly, barely able to hold herself up.
The clean, woody scent on Rudolph made her want to sink even deeper into him.
At 3 a.m., Chloe woke up. Rudolph wasn’t in the room, but the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
He’d been really gentle last night—and honestly, every round had felt surprisingly good.
She reached for her phone, but it had already shut off from low battery.
Pulling the blanket aside, she got up and bent down to grab the charger from the bedside table, then plugged her phone in.
As soon as it powered back on, the screen lit up with twenty missed calls—all from Raife.
Chloe didn’t bother checking any of them. She just blocked his number on the spot.
The bathroom door opened, and Rudolph stepped out in a robe, drops of water still clinging to him. The first thing he saw was a stunning sight.
The girl’s figure was incredible. Her long, straight hair draped down her back, making her fair skin look even more flawless. A faint pink still lingered from their earlier intimacy.Rudolph Bennett's Adam's apple shifted slightly, and without thinking, he asked, "Still hurting?"
Chloe Reed hadn’t expected him to bring it up so bluntly. It was her first time, after all, and now that the alcohol had worn off, it made things even more awkward. Her cheeks flushed pink. “A little…”
Rudolph gave a small smile. Let’s face it, any guy would be pleased hearing that sort of response.
“Sorry... Just bear with it for now.”
Chloe blinked, puzzled. Before she could ask what he meant, the room suddenly went pitch black.
Then, the next thing she knew, he’d scooped her up into his arms.
…
When Chloe finally woke again, daylight was streaming through the windows; the room was empty—Rudolph was gone.
She soaked in a hot bath, trying to ease the soreness in her body.
Wrapped up in a towel, her face was tinged with a soft blush, looking stunning despite the fatigue.
Just as she stepped out of the bathroom, there was a knock on the door.
She went over and opened it. A female hotel staff stood there, holding a large paper bag, and politely said, “Mr. Bennett picked these out for Miss Reed.”
Chloe thanked her politely and closed the door.
On top of everything in the bag was one of Rudolph Bennett’s business cards. The implication was pretty clear.
Chloe couldn’t help but feel a little relieved—this meant Rudolph likely wasn’t done with her yet.
She sifted through the bag and pulled out a blue dress—a slim-fitting piece with delicate spaghetti straps and a tapered waist that really flattered her figure.
There was even a box of medication tucked inside. Her cheeks instantly turned even redder.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Sophia Evans on the other end.
“Chloe, so? How’d it go?” Sophia's voice was full of curiosity.
Chloe glanced at the card, the dress, and the medicine lying on the bed.
“I think... it worked,” she replied, half uncertain.
“Good. I knew it—Rudolph Bennett totally goes for your type,” Sophia said with confidence.
Chloe’s voice went shaky. “Sophia, you know I’ve never really cared about this stuff. I just... want Raife Hart to pay for what he did.”
If it weren’t for that, she never would've taken things this far—never would've gone out of her way to seduce Rudolph.
The dress turned out to fit surprisingly well when she put it on. Clearly, the man had good eyes, probably honed through experience with plenty of women. And here she was—just another in the mix.
Even with the meds, the soreness lingered. Legs still weak, Chloe slowly made her way out of the hotel.
She ordered a ride online, and the car pulled up right as she stepped outside.
After getting in, she messaged the training center to take the day off, saying she had to go to the hospital.
There was no way she could teach a class in her current state.
Once at the hospital, she went straight to the inpatient unit.
Her first stop was the attending physician in charge of her father, Patrick Reed. The doctor looked troubled.
He sighed and said, “Your father's condition has worsened compared to last month. I’d suggest transferring him to another facility—there's a high-end rehab center in Jingdu that partners with specialists from overseas. It could really benefit him. The only issue is the cost.”
“How much would that be, Dr. Adams…” Chloe asked hesitantly.
“For a patient like your father, he’d need constant care and regular checkups by top specialists. It’d run around a hundred thousand a month,” the doctor replied gravely.
